Merle V. Howland
July 7, 1915 - October 20, 2013
Merle Howland was born July 7th, 1915 to Oscar Freihube and Amelia Thompson Freihube.  She very peacefully went to be with God on October 20th, 2013.  Merle was a 1933 graduate of Oconomowoc High School.  During her life she proudly worked at Red Circle Inn and Chuck's Supper Club.  With her husband Bill she was a longtime resident of Silver Lake.  Her home on the water was a dream come true.  There she loved entertaining both family and friends.  She loved watching sunsets, the storms that rolled across the lake, and documenting the freezing and thawing each year.  Merle was an avid bowler. She volunteered at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital and was a Town of Summit poll worker for many elections.  At Three Pillars she became well known for her "paper route", delivering the Journal Sentinel to her neighbors and to those she thought could use just a little help. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, William Blake Howland, her son William Jr, and daughter Patsy Orcholski.  She is survived by her son Timothy (Laurie), grandchildren Mike Orcholski, Bill Orcholski, Trevor Howland and Alexis Howland, and great granddaughters Sara Orcholski and Laura Orcholski. On Friday October 25th at 2:00 PM,  a Celebration of Life will be held at Ewald Chapel, Three Pillars, Village on the Square in Dousman.  In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be directed to Three Pillars or AngelsGrace Hospice in Oconomowoc.
