Etheridge M. (Ed) Iverson was born April 23, 1938 to the late Etheridge and Mabel Iverson in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Ed went to Lincoln High School, graduating in 1956. After high school, Ed volunteered for service in the United States Army, and was honorably discharged on June 18, 1959. He married the love of his life, Karen (nee Borman), on April 28, 1962. Ed was a graduate of Milwaukee School of Engineering, and received his Bachelor’s of Science Degree from the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee. Ed joined A.O. Smith (Tower Automotive) in March of 1966 and from there retired in March of 1997, after 31 years of service. However, retirement never really took, and Ed joined Nicolet High School in Glendale to help in the Information Technology Department. He stayed with Nicolet for 7 years. Always proud of his heritage, Ed joined the Sons of Norway with his wife, Karen. He also discovered his gift of service and love of computers were much welcome at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center. There he helped the elderly and wounded veterans of our Armed Forces connect with loved ones via the internet and other technical methods. Ed had a visceral connection with those he served, and a commitment to doing everything he could for our heroes. This moral duty was fundamental to his core. It is how he raised his family: to love each other, work hard and serve their neighbors. He was a proud Catholic and member of St. Eugene’s Parish of Fox Point, where he served as an usher and member of the parish council. Of all of the accomplishments throughout his lifetime, his proudest moments came with the birth of each of his seven children. Ever the stoic Norwegian, he nevertheless would not miss an opportunity to tell them each how much he loved them and how proud he was of them. Matthew Iverson, of Elgin, Illinois, and Ed’s firstborn, is the father of Ed’s firstborn grandchild, Bryanna. Michael Iverson, of Menomonee Falls, is married to Nancy Iverson, and the two are parents to Tyler, Robert and Brandon. Catherine Nielsen, of Carthage, Texas, is married to John Nielsen, and the two are the parents of Sarah. Kristin Iverson, of Milwaukee, is mother to Cheyanne and Zachary Roszina. Peter Iverson, of Sebastian, Florida, is married to Ami Iverson, and the two are parents to Ingrid, Douglas and Colin. Daniel Iverson, of Fox Point, recently made Ed the happiest father alive by marrying the love of his own life, Jessica Belinda Maart Iverson, on December 18, 2011. Nicole Smullen, of Whitefish Bay, is married to Joel Smullen, and the two most recently informed Ed he would welcome a new grandchild in 2012. Ed and Karen were high school sweethearts, together for 57 years, and were looking forward to renewing their vows on their 50th wedding anniversary in April, at the Vatican in Rome, Italy. Ed was taken suddenly and far too soon on January 13, 2012. He now resides with our Father, Ed’s parents and his beloved brother, Darrold Iverson. Be at peace, Daddy. We will always, always love you and try to make you proud.
