Robert D. LeMense
January 19, 1922 - August 19, 2011

LeMense, Robert D. Of Mequon, died on Friday, August 19, 2011 with his family in attendance. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 54 years Mary Lou and his parents Louis and Cecelia (McMillan) LeMense. He is survived by his daughter Mary and his son Robert (Lynne) and grandsons Samuel, Andrew and Robert. He is further survived by his sister-in-law Patricia (Bernard) Dillon and nineteen nieces and nephews and several cousins. Several friends from school days and army service also survive.

 

Bob was born in Iron Mountain MI on January 19, 1922. He graduated from Kingsford High School in 1939 and the University of Notre Dame in December 1942. He was called to active duty in the army in February 1943 and sent to the ETO in early 1945 and assigned to the 45th “Thunderbird” Division. His unit aided in the liberation of the infamous Dachau concentration camp. After, he was in sales until he was recalled to active duty in the Korean conflict in 1951. Next he attended Notre Dame Law School where he met Mary Lou (Keegan) in 1954. They came to Milwaukee in 1955 where he joined Whyte, Hirschboeck and Minahan. He retired from the firm, now Whyte, Hirschboeck, Dudek, in 1987.

 

Bob enjoyed sports, particularly the Fighting Irish and Green Bay Packers. His favorite time was spent with his family enjoying his children and traveling with Mary Lou to their respective college and military reunions and warmer climates, their favorite being Hawaii. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, the Milwaukee, Wisconsin and American Bar Associations and the 45th Division and 157th Infantry Associations.

 

Visitation at the funeral home from 5-7 PM on Monday, August 22. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Tuesday, August 23 at LUMEN CHRISTI CATHOLIC CHURCH; 2700 West Mequon Road, corner North Range Line Road in Mequon (please meet at church). Interment with full military honors will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials to Stars and Stripes Honor Flight; P.O. Box 636, Port Washington WI 53074 or the Sinsinawa Dominicans; 585 County Road Z, Sinsinawa WI 53824 would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.
