Esther A. Hackbarth 1922-2010 Esther Hackbarth of Oconomowoc passed away March 14 at the age of 87. She was born April 12, 1922 to Hugo and Marie Grulke. She was preceded in death by her dear husband Raymond ‘Slim’ Hackbarth and son William Hackbarth. She is survived by her children Mike (Joan) Hackbarth, Susan (Donald) Dabel, and Patricia (Scott) Bartlett. Grandchildren Kristina (Michael) Higbee, Jacquelyn Dabel, Sarah Bartlett, Cody Bartlett, Brian Hackbarth, Joesph Hackbarth, and Annie Hackbarth. Great-grandchildren Jackson Higbee, Alexandra Higbee, and Charles Higbee. Sister Marie Stark and Sisters-in-law Gladys Grulke and Delores Grulke along with many other relatives and friends. Esther spent many years working as ‘the lunch lady’ at St. Jerome’s school. She was an avid Bear’s fan due to time spent working at St. John’s in the 1930’s when the Bear’s had summer training camp there. Esther loved playing bingo and her card club. She enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds and playing with her great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Friday March 19 at First Congregational UCC, 815 South Concord Road, Oconomowoc. Visitation will be from 9am -11am. The service will be held at 11am with Pastor Lisa Schmatzhagen presiding. Memorials to First Congregational UCC, The American Heart Association or the National MS Society WI Chapter are appreciated.
