Georgy Zhigalin
March 21, 1949 - October 30, 2026

Age 77, passed away on October 30, 2026.

George lived a remarkable life shaped by extraordinary historical events. Born on March 21, 1949, in Hailar, China, he spent much of his life in the former Soviet Union before eventually making the United States his home. He witnessed tremendous changes throughout his lifetime and overcame many challenges, always maintaining his resilience, determination, and adventurous spirit.

George was a man of boundless energy, sharp wit, and a wonderfully sarcastic sense of humor. He loved traveling, exploring new places, and embracing everything life had to offer. He believed in staying active and enjoyed bicycling, walking, swimming, fishing, gardening, and his beloved Russian banya. He also had a beautiful singing voice and a lifelong appreciation for the music of Vladimir Vysotsky.

Above all, George was a family man in the truest sense of the word. Nothing was more important to him than his family. He was a devoted husband, loving father, extraordinary grandfather, caring brother, and beloved uncle. He expressed his love not so much through words as through his actions, always ready to offer support, lend a helping hand, or simply be there for those he loved.

George is survived by his beloved wife, Svetlana Zhigalina; his daughter, Yulia Jigalina, and son-in-law, Michael Roginsky; his cherished grandsons, George (Gosha) Roginsky and Alex Roginsky; his brothers, Vladimir and Viktor Zhigalin; his sister, Zinaida Zhigalina; and his extended family, including his beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elena and Mihail.
