Dennis Robert Salentine, 62, passed peacefully at home surrounded by family on Saturday, August 1st.  

 

Dennis was born January 9, 1964 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  He spent his childhood on the family dairy farm in Muskego. After graduating from Muskego High School in 1982, Dennis attended UW-Whitewater and graduated in 1986.  

 

Following his graduation from UW-Whitewater, Dennis left farm life and joined the M&I Trust Company.  He later transferred to M&I Human Resources and then BMO HR following the merger. After 37+ years of service, Dennis retired as Vice President, Director of U.S. Benefits in June, 2024.  

 

Dennis was an avid sports fan, gifted athlete, and outdoorsman. He enjoyed playing football, baseball and basketball in his youth, and collegiate football with the UW-Whitewater Warhawks. Dennis continued his lifelong love of sports and competition into adulthood. He enjoyed playing softball, golfing, hunting and fishing. He fostered the love of sports in his children and coached each of them in various youth athletic teams. His goal was to inspire love of the game, fair play, and good sportsmanship in all those he coached. Dennis also spent many years deer hunting in Fountain City with a close-knit group of friends. He would often recall the many great memories and stories from those special days. When not participating in these hobbies, Dennis loved cheering for local sports teams. Whether it was taking in a Brewers game at the ballpark, a Packers game at Lambeau Field, attending the Rose Bowl to cheer on the Badgers, or watching from the comfort of his favorite recliner - he loved the spirit of athletic competition.   

 

Many of Dennis’ fondest memories were time spent at the family cabin on Post Lake in Elcho Wisconsin, which he described as his “happy place”. Dennis enjoyed cabin time with his family for over 20 years - getting to watch his kids grow up with summers at the lake - boating, fishing, sitting around the campfire, and the annual 4th of July fireworks display & boat parade. He loved taking his granddaughters for a ride on the pontoon or fishing with Papa. Dennis & Linda also enjoyed hosting company for weekends at the lake. Additionally, Dennis greatly enjoyed spending time at the cabin with family & friends for hunting season. Oftentimes he came home with funny stories rather than game or venison.  

 

Dennis is survived by his devoted mother, Arlene, his loving wife of 24 years, Linda, his cherished children: Stephanie (Jared) Wolfe, Ian (Chelsea), Erin (Andrew) Kaishian, Lilly, and his adoring granddaughters Nora & Josie Wolfe.

 

Dennis is proceeded in death by his father, Wayne and brother, David.

 

Dennis’s family would like to thank his care team at the Froedtert Neuro Oncology Center and caregivers from Horizon Hospice for providing him with compassionate and respectful care during his illness.  

 

In lieu of flowers, his family suggests a memorial on Dennis’s behalf be made to the Froedtert Hospital Foundation.

 

Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at ST. ANTHONY CATHOLIC CHURCH (N74 W13604 Appleton Avenue, Menomonee Falls, WI 53051) from noon until 1:45 PM. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00 PM. Private Burial at Saint Anthony Cemetery at a later date. Following the funeral Mass, his wife & children invite family and friends to a Celebration of Dennis's Life at the Hot House Tavern, N88W16631 Appleton Avenue, Menomonee Falls.
