Passed away on August 1, 2026, at the age of 88.
 
Roger was the devoted husband of Erika "Gina" (née Gmelch) for 66 wonderful years. He was the loving father of Ralph Perlewitz and Jeff (Kathi) Perlewitz, and the proud grandfather of Erika K. Perlewitz.
 
He was the dear brother of Susan (the late David) Della and Mark (Marijo) Perlewitz, and brother-in-law of Annemarie (the late Helmut) Ronge. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, including Robert (Sherri) Ronge, Rick (Laura) Ronge, Christopher (Gina) Della, Sharon Della, Anne Marie Della, Margaret Osterman, Mark Perlewitz Jr., Michael Perlewitz, and Jennifer Perlewitz.
 
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Ann Perlewitz, and by his brother, Brian S. Perlewitz, who was killed during the Vietnam War.
 
Roger attended Washington High School in Milwaukee before enlisting in the United States Navy in March 1955. After graduating from Submarine School in 1957, he joined the United States Army and was stationed in Germany, where he graduated from Airborne School and met the love of his life, Erika.
 
Following his military service, Roger earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. He then began a distinguished 28-year career with the Mequon Police Department, rising to the rank of Acting Chief before retiring in 1989. He was also a proud graduate of the FBI National Academy, 104th Session.
 
Roger had a lifelong love of the outdoors and especially enjoyed spending time at the family's vacation home in Marinette County. An avid competitive shooter and bird hunter, he treasured time spent afield with his beloved dogs. He was also passionate about sharing his knowledge with others, teaching firearm safety and hunter education throughout Wisconsin.
 
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home, N84 W17937 Menomonee Ave., Menomonee Falls, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at NOON.
 
A graveside service with military honors will be held 10 AM Friday, August 14th at Holy Cross Cemetery 7301 West Nash St. Milwaukee. Please meet at the main entrance.
 
In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to The Alzheimer’s Foundation, Tunnel to Towers Foundation or Grace Lutheran Church, Menomonee Falls.
