Richard August Giese Sr., 86, of Mukwonago WI, passed away peacefully at home on May 23rd, 2026.
Born January 13th, 1940 in Hales Corners WI to August and Edna Lindemann Giese, Richard was a devoted child of God and loving husband, father and grandfather.
Richard lived a life defined by service and a desire to help others. Throughout his professional life, he took on many roles dedicated to teaching and protecting his community. He served as a Parochial school teacher, a City of Waukesha police officer, a security guard, a dispatcher, a drywaller and as a customer care worker for over 20 years at K-Mart, where he became a familiar, friendly face to many. He also loved teaching Sunday School and singing in the church choir.
Beyond his dedication to his work, Richard was a man with deep and enduring passions. He was the ultimate Wisconsin sports fan and could always be found cheering on his favorite teams, the Brewers and the Packers. He was a lifelong music lover, a passion that began in his youth when he learned to play the accordion. He taught accordion lessons at West Allis Music Center and played in a couple of bands for many weddings and in dance halls. Whether it was the classic sounds of a record or the background hum of the radio, his home was always filled with music. Deer hunting, golf, and fishing were also on his favorite list of things to do.
Richard was also a highly creative soul. For many years, he spent hours every single day working on intricate coloring and teaching himself how to draw. His patience, dedication, and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Suzanne Mayer Giese, of 63 years and nine months. . His loving children, Linda Sholar (David), Richard Giese Jr. (Michelle), Matthew Giese (Kristin), Jason Giese (Amber), Susan Oryszczyn (James); and his 14 cherished grandchildren and partners, Kayla Kuo (Arthur), Megan Naus (Morgan), Abigayle Giese (Matthew), Katarina Oryszczyn (Austin), Jayke Giese (Holly), Hayleigh Giese, Isabella Oryszczyn (Mason), Richard Giese III, Justyn Giese (Maddy), James Oryszczyn Jr., McKenna Giese, Annika Giese, Mattea Giese and Cassandra Giese; and his dear sister, Bernice Acker. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and close friends.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, August and Edna Giese; his loving sisters, Arlene Sekula and Lorraine Asman, brother-in-law’s Frank Asman and Adolph Sekula and sister-in-law Judith Mayer.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 8th at 11:00am at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mukwonago (410 W. Veteran's Way). Visitation will be held from 9am-11am and a lunch will be provided after the service.
