Esther Beguhn
October 10, 1930 - March 7, 2026

Esther M. Beguhn (nee Metzger) died peacefully at home surrounded by family members on Saturday, March 7th,2026, at the age of 95.

Esther grew up in Menomonie, WI as one of 9 siblings. After high school, she spent some time as a telephone operator before getting married and moving to Oconomowoc, WI where she started her family and babysat some local kids. When her children got older, she started working at the Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital in the dietary department. After she retired, she spent her time volunteering at the local adult daycare.

Esther enjoyed knitting, reading cheesy romance novels, and was usually seen with a word search puzzle in hand. As a self-proclaimed chocoholic, she always had chocolate in the house; and if it was dark chocolate, she was sure to have a few stashes of it hidden so she wouldn’t run out!

Survived by her sons Steven and Duane, grandchildren Amy J. Beula (Phil), Alan, Corey Ann, and Melanie Beguhn, and great grandchildren Anne and Gordon Beula. Also survived by her sisters, Eleanor Brehm and Margaret Trafford, brother Richard Metzger, and other relatives and friends.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents, George and Nellie Metzger, her husband Gordon and daughter Sandra Evans, brothers Harold and Raymond Metzger and sisters Mabel Morse, Georgia Beguhn, and Jean Bechel.

There will be a private burial at Summit Cemetery. Per Esther’s wishes, there will be no service.

In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to St. Matthews Evangelical Lutheran Church, or immediate family.
