John married Elizabeth (née Gjesdahl) in 1970 at St. John the Evangelist in Green Bay, WI and was a loving husband and father. He is survived by Elizabeth, his son Matthew, nephews Michael and Steven Moller, and sister and brothers-in-law Margaret, John, David, and Andy Gjesdahl. He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws Erick and Dorothy Gjesdahl, and his sisters Kathleen Fay and Mary (Keith) Moller.
John was a teacher for 32 years in the De Pere school district. He had a passion for travel and organized educational trips for students from both the De Pere and Luxemburg-Casco school districts. Over the course of his life, he traveled from China and Australia to England and Portugal to many parts in between, including Scandinavia and Soviet Czechoslovakia! He loved to ski, golf, sail, camp, hunt, fish, and play tennis, but his greatest passion was playing his guitar and singing.
As season ticket holder, John was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, as well as the Badgers, Brewers, Boilermakers, and Golden Eagles.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at St. John the Evangelist (427 St John St, Green Bay, WI 54301) from 9:00 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. A celebration of life will follow.
