Catherine S. O’Brien

Catherine “Pepper” S. O’Brien (Stauff) of Sussex passed away peacefully with family surrounding her on February 1, age 92. She is reunited in heaven with her beloved late husband John “Jack” F. O’Brien, Sr. Pepper is loving mother to John (Janet) O’Brien, Liza (Dennis) Schulze and Kitty (Pete) Szecsy; dear Nani of Katie (Mike) Ryczkowski, Sean (Renee) O’Brien, Alison (Joe) O’Brien Turk, Dave (Melissa) O’Brien, Heather (Andrew) Wiesner and Shawn (Laurie) Szecsy, and 13 loved great-grandchildren.

She was a longtime member of St. Teresa of Calcutta (St. Clare) Catholic Church in North Lake. She was an avid gardener both in the vegetable garden and flower beds. She provided thousands of meals and treats to family and friends, especially around Christmas time dropping off and shipping thousands of cookies. She was very much at home with nature and loved feeding her birds. An avid Green Bay Packer season ticket holder and fan of her childhood hometown team, her commitment never waivered, good season or bad. She babysat for players and was known in the past to pick up the phone and contact the Packers President, who would take her call. She also enjoyed listening to Milwaukee Brewer games over the radio.

Pepper believed deeply in her Catholic faith which she instilled in her children and grandchildren. She found peace in both her love of the Lord, in nature and helping others.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, February 6, 2026 at Noon at St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Church, W314N7462 State Road 83, Hartland, WI. Visitation will also be on Friday from 11am until Noon at the church. Services will also be live streamed at www.youtube.com/@SaintTeresaofCalcuttaParish

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Hartland Place Assisted Living or Elite Hospice in Pepper’s name.
