Laurel A. Petersen (nee DesMonie)

Of Whitewater, was born into eternal life on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at the age of 68. She is the loving mother of Jennifer (Darron) Smith and Thomas Petersen; proud grandmother of Dalton Smith; loving sister of Marsha (Jeff) Scheffel and Andrew (Tracey) DesMonie.  She is further survived by nieces and nephews including Caitlin Kaszanits, Kristyn Lewis, Shannen Jones, Samuel DesMonie and Adriana DesMonie.  She is also survived by her cousins, Kim Haebig, Linda Holmbeck, and Kathy Fosdick as well as her sister and brother-in-law’s and multiple nieces and nephews on her husband’s side of the family.  Laurel was preceded by her husband Jeffrey Petersen on July 20, 2016 after 39 years of marriage, her parents Donald and Catherine (DesMonie), and a sister Susan DesMonie.

Laurel was an active member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church.  She had a very strong faith and was involved with different groups at the church.  She enjoyed gardening, doing crafts, bible study, but most of all spending time with her family.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church (410 W. Veteran's Way, Mukwonago) from 9:30 AM until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM.  Private family burial to follow at St. George Cemetery in Kenosha.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be given to St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church.
