Called home to the Lord on April 30, 2025, Eileen M. Nelson, a devoted Catholic, loving wife and mother, passed away peacefully at the age of 82, surrounded by her family and strengthened by her faith. Her life was a faithful witness to God’s love—rooted in prayer, service, and unwavering devotion to her family and Church.
Born on September 9, 1942, in Milwaukee, WI, she was the beloved daughter of Joseph and Theresa Mazurek. She graduated from Mercy High School in 1960, a Catholic school that helped nurture her lifelong devotion to her faith.
She married Roger Nelson on November 30, 1963, at St. Lawrence Church, in Milwaukee, WI. In meaningful coincidence, they later purchased land in 1967 on Lawrence Avenue where they built their forever home in Menomonee Falls.
A selfless and loving woman, Eileen always put her family first and her dedication to family was unwavering. Whether it was sending her college-bound grandsons their favorite cookies or organizing holiday dinners, she constantly showed her love through thoughtful gestures and quiet acts of care. Holidays, especially Thanksgiving and Easter, were her favorites, and she took great joy in setting her table and hosting family celebrations. Her hobby was her family, and she treasured the opportunity to create lasting memories with those she loved.
Eileen valued tradition and was deeply committed to her faith. She was an active member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Menomonee Falls, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, a collection counter, and a preparer of meals for St. Ben’s and lunches for the homeless. She also volunteered for the Waukesha County Meals on Wheels program, delivering meals to the homebound. She was always finding ways to serve others with humility and grace. Her love for British television, WGN radio, Broadway shows, and the Tony Awards was a cherished part of her personality, yet it was the relationships she maintained over the years that meant the most to her.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that lives on in her family. Eileen is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Roger, and their four daughters: Kristie Nelson (David Kleinschmidt), Jeanne (Ken) Onken, Beth (Roger) Rommel, and Tracy (Steve) Buddenhagen. She was a cherished grandmother to seven grandsons and five great-grandchildren, who lovingly called her “Puddy.” She is also survived by her brother, Bob (Mary Ellen) Mazurek, and sister, Jane (Arnold) Tobler, along with nieces, a nephew, extended family members, and lifelong friends who were like family to her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, N88 W17658 Christman Road in Menomonee Falls on May 16, 2025. Visitation will begin at 9 AM and continue until the time of Mass at 11 AM. A reception to follow after. A private burial will take place on May 17th.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the schedulers, nurses, and doctors of Froedtert Cancer Care Center and Horizon Home Care & Hospice for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Horizon Home Care & Hospice.
