Passed away unexpectedly on the morning of March 12, 2025 at the age of 39.   Born to Jeanne Lynn Matre and Daniel Albert Matre on May 8, 1985 and welcomed into our home by her brother, Daniel Adam Matre.

She is survived by her mother Jeanne (nee Merkel) Matre, father Daniel Matre and stepmother Ly Thi Pham, brother Daniel Matre and wife Amber (Zoe) Matre. Her aunts and uncles include Dennis Merkel and wife Debra having children Jessica and Jason. Michael Wichgers and wife Cheryl (deceased)with children Jena and Colin. Dwayne Merkel and wife Marie (Ramono) Merkel. Donna Matre. Michael Matre and wife Fran (Drag) Matre.

Carolyn attended Mckinley Grade School, Longfellow Middle School and Wauwatosa East High School. She attended Alverno College graduating with honors after earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in marketing. She often credited her experiences at Alverno enabling her to exhibit exemplary social intelligence in her relationships. Carolyn was a most dedicated daughter to her parents and family, and loyal, loving, and generous friend to all. Many saw Carolyn as a daughter of their own or a sister to others.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home, 10121 W. North Avenue, Wauwatosa from 6 PM until the time of Memorial Service and celebration of her life at 7 PM.  Flowers are welcome for the service or a donation to the Wisconsin Humane Society-Milwaukee Campus because during her entire life, Carolyn loved to rescue her beloved pets – Nipse, Chester, Oreo, and Maverick.

She loved water and loved to travel. So, off you go our beloved Carolyn, on your new and amazing venture. We will miss you tremendously.
