Rebecca (“Becky”) J. Wells, 80, left the loving embrace of her family on Tuesday, July 25, 2023. During her journey of breast cancer survivor and dementia, her life detoured and she succumbed to a stroke. She is preceded in death by her husband, J. David Wells; her parents, Guy and Leona Allgeyer; brothers-in-law David K. Brewer and Lawrence L. Wells. Family survivors include her daughters Paige Wells Lundquist (Robert Lundquist) and Heather Wells-Holtey (Brooks Holtey); sisters Bonny Brewer and Barbara Fox, 4 grandchildren (Nate and Zach Lundquist; Hayden and Ella Holtey) and multiple nieces and nephews.
Born in Toledo, Ohio, she spent her youth in Toledo and Alton, IL; graduating from Alton High School in 1961. She attended the University of Missouri and graduated with a BA in primary education in 1965. After several years of teaching, she rerouted to the real estate business, where she was active for many years. Married to Dave Wells in 1965, they spent time in Kansas City and Kirksville, MO, and eventually settled in Glen Ellyn, IL with their two girls.
Becky was always creating with her hands – first in sewing clothing and then painting, and finally was very involved in the quilting community. She won many ribbons at the local fairs and enjoyed sharing this passion with both of her sisters by attending classes and retreats. She has left wonderful artful works for her family and friends to cherish.
In addition to her hobbies, she and Dave were active members of the First United Methodist Church in Glen Ellyn, IL for years. Becky loved playing games and participated in Mahjong and bridge groups, as well as book club, 60/60 and gourmet group. Her unflappable positivity and charm will be greatly missed. She was always able to find “good” in everyone and in life’s voyages. A devoted Mother and “Gram”, the love for her family was foremost in her life.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Becky’s life will be held on Saturday, September 16 at 1:30 pm with Visitation beginning at Noon until the time of the service at the Lutheran Home (7500 W. North Ave; Wauwatosa, WI, 53213) with a reception to follow. Please park on the surrounding streets and enter through the main entrance on 74th St.
