Mike was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, friend, and boss. He was loyal, intelligent, passionate, fair, funny, generous, proud, and honest, had sterling integrity, an unsurpassed work ethic, common sense, and was caring, loving, respectful, and gregarious, with a quick wit and deep appreciation for others. He was a pillar in the steel industry and helped lead Wisconsin Steel and Tube for more than 45 years, eventually as its CEO and president. He touched many lives through his care, support, and mentoring. In his younger years, Mike loved to fish and go on vacation with his family. He also liked golfing, walking his beloved dogs, listening to Carol play the piano, listening to music, bird watching, and appreciating beautiful sunsets. He was an avid sports enthusiast, told the best jokes, and he was proud of his country and his family. In lieu of flowers, memorials on his behalf to St. James Parish in Menomonee Falls, WI are appreciated.
Visitation will be held Fri. Dec. 18 at St. James Catholic Parish, W220 N6588 Town Line Rd., Menomonee Falls from 9:30 AM until the time of the Memorial Mass at 11 AM. The family will plan to gather for a Celebration of Mike's life in the spring when we can be outside.
