Edwin Allen "Ed" or "Butch" Schueler
May 9, 1941 - September 3, 2020

Age 79, entered into eternal rest on September 3, 2020, at his home in Richfield, WI, surrounded by his family. He was born May 9, 1941, in Appleton, WI.

After high school Ed worked as a gas station attendant. Among others that Ed serviced and became acquainted with was Richard Baseman who frequented the station with his company vehicles. Richard asked Ed one time if he knew anyone who might want a job with his company, Baseman Floors of Appleton, WI. Ed replied, “Ask me.” This began a lifelong friendship with Richard and Mary Baseman and their family. They were a light to Ed and Mary, pointing them toward ministers Carl Oman and Kenneth Blakeman and the Truth of the Gospel which has remained an anchor for their souls since 1973.

Ed was drafted into the army from 1963 to 1965. While serving in the military police he earned a Good Conduct Medal and achieved Expert Marksman and Rifleman. He became his Colonel’s personal driver which afforded him many opportunities and insights into military life. Ed met Mary Lynn London the summer of 1963 and popped the question of marriage before he left for basic training. They married June 27, 1964, and started their married life in Fort Hood, Texas, where Ed was stationed. After Ed’s tour in the Army he and Mary became the proud parents of their first-born son, Robert Roy. Over the next 12 years they welcomed Peggy Sue, Sara Lee, Angela Lynn and William Joseph.

Ed worked about five years for Baseman Floors before and after his military service. He moved on to work for Baseman Brothers Flooring, then located in Germantown, WI, installing and refinishing wood floors. Other career opportunities increased Ed’s knowledge of the building industry. His other employments were as Field Superintendent for both Erdmann Construction of Greendale, WI, and Innovative Construction Solutions of Brookfield, WI. Ed retired after 47 years of service in varied capacities in the construction industry.

Ed and Mary had 56 years together learning about each other, raising their five children and enjoying their cabin “up north.” In later years they enjoyed visiting family both near and far and treasure hunting together in antique stores and flea markets. Ed always enjoyed motorcycles, classic and antique cars and car shows. His ’59 Mercedes was present for pleasure rides, an occasional back up vehicle, graduation and anniversary celebrations and even a wedding getaway car. Ed enjoyed an occasional game of cribbage with family and friends.

Ed leaves special memories with his wife, Mary; his five children: Rob (Sarah) Schueler, Peggy (Larry) Mason, Sara (Stephen) Mercer, Angie Bohne, Bill (Andrea) Schueler and son-in-law Chris Bohne; grandchildren: Adria, Denver and Ella Schueler; Antara Mason; Isabelle, Lillian and Nat Mercer; Christopher, Kaleb and Cade Bohne; Emmett, Remi and Kavanaugh Schueler; one great grandchild, Myah Kennedy Bohne; his sisters, Virginia (Duane) Chenier and Karen (Jim) Schueler-Langedyke; cousins, numerous nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews and many beloved friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin F. and Florence E. Schueler; his older sister, Delores Peterson; his infant twin nephews, Roger and Rodney Peterson; his father and mother in-law, Clifton C. and Margaret E. London; his sister-in-law, Donna London; and his grandson, Tandi Mason.

Our family is grateful for the dedicated staff of the Vince Lombardi Cancer Center at Aurora St. Luke’s Hospital; Dr. Frederico Sanchez’s treatment, care and compassion through the years; the employees at the Aurora Cancer Clinic in Germantown; the caregivers at Aurora Hospital in Grafton; and the Aurora at Home Hospice team of Wauwatosa for their gentle and dignified care of Ed and the unfailing support of his family as he completed his earthly journey.

Ed’s positive outlook throughout a six-year battle with cancer, his encouraging words, his thankful heart and his faith remained until the end. As we say good-bye, we remember some of his favorite sayings: “There’s nothing new under the sun,” “Keep it simple,” and perhaps the most sincerely given and most encouraging to us all, “Keep the faith.”
