Rosemarie Teresa Deisinger
June 11, 1928 - November 2, 2017

(nee Canak) Born on June 11, 1928, born to Eternal Life on All Souls Day, Thursday, November 2, 2017, age 89. Rosemarie was the loving and beloved mother and mother-in-law of Regina (George) Dunst, Christopher, Francis (Judith), Thomas (Anne), Ann (Michael) Joranger, Rita (Brian) Clark, Mark (Sharon) and Rebecca (Steven) Whitney. She was the loving and beloved grandmother of Jeni (Taylor), Tony, Andrew, Peter (Sean), Anna (Blake), Angie (Mike), John (Jax), Joe, Phil, Danny, Abbie, Kelsey (Chris), Nate, Thomas, Matt, Celia, Aaron, Patrick, Michael and Clare, and the loving great-grandmother of Bennett, Elise, Miriam, Sylvie and Sasha. She is also survived by her dear sister-in-law Rosemary Preiss, and by many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Rosemarie was preceded in death by John, her loving and beloved husband of over 55 years, by her dear infant daughter Teresa, by her beloved brothers Peter and George, and by her beloved sisters Helen and Mary. Rosemarie was the daughter of Mile and Anna (nee Komugovic) Canak.

Rosemarie lost her eyesight when she was 16 but refused to allow this to define or limit her. At 19, she earned her amateur radio license, becoming the first blind woman “Ham” in Wisconsin. Through this hobby she met John, and together they made friends around the world and built a life of mutual respect and devotion. Some cautioned John against marrying a blind woman. All soon agreed it was the best decision he ever made. Rosemarie loved being a wife and mother and was the warm sun around which her large family revolved. She kept her crowded Wauwatosa home spotless, yet filled with her ready wit, easy laughter, remarkable cooking, generous hospitality and the classical music she loved. She was a published author of poetry and prose. She was open and loving to the whole world.

For the last several years, Rosemarie was cared for at St. Camillus. Her family sincerely thanks her caregivers for their kindness.

Visitation will be held Thursday, November 9, from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM at St. Sebastian's Catholic Church, 55th and Washington Blvd., Milwaukee, followed at 6:30 PM by a Mass of Christian Burial. A private interment service for the family will take place the next day. Rosemarie's family would be grateful for any memorials benefiting the Rosemarie Deisinger Scholarship fund, which will support educational opportunities for the caregivers at St. Camillus. Donations can be made to the St. Camillus Foundation (10200 W. Bluemound Rd., Wauwatosa, WI 53226).
