Virginia Ruth Navine of Oconomowoc, passed away on November 24, 2011 at Shorehaven Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born December 26, 1921 in Honey Creek, WI. to Ralph and Katie Mayo. She married Richard Navine Jr. on Sept. 14, 1946 at the Congregational Church in Somers, WI. Richard preceded Virginia in death on Sept. 24, 1998. Virginia is survived by her children; Katie Navine (Scott Phelps), Jeffery Navine, John Navine, Shelly Navine (Robert Henry). She is dear sister to Paul Mayo, Sister-in-law Carol Navine. She is further survived by grandchildren Bobbi, Jeremy, Claire, Amanda, Audrey, Austin, Great grandchildren Alyssa, Alicia, Justin, Kassandra. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Richard, granddaughter Jenni Navine, brothers: Ralph Mayo, Alvis Mayo, and Lane Mayo, sisters: Claudine Mayo, Eola Garvens, And Ethel Hoene. Virginia was a member of The First Congregational United Church of Christ for 641/2 years. Virginia graduated from Carroll College in 1944 with a degree in Medical Technology. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Sorority and was the Sorority President from 1943-1944. She was board President of Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital Auxiliary 1995-1996. She was a member of the Oconomowoc Women's Club, American Association of University Women, Oconomowoc Music Club. Virginia became a registered microbiologist and worked for 15 years at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital. She had a very pleasant and sweet nature and had a very optimistic attitude about almost everything. She did not complain about anything. She was the youngest of 8 children who was raised in the depression. Her father was a minister and the family moved several times during her childhood. She liked to be active and she channeled much of her energy into helping make the world a better place. She was president of several of the organizations she belonged to and gladly offerd many hours of volunteer service. Friends may visit on Saturday Dec. 3, 2011 from 1:00pm until time of memorial service at 3:00pm all at the First Congregational United Church of Christ (815 S. Concord Rd. Oconomowoc, WI. 53066). In Lieu of flowers, memorials to the Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital Auxiliary (791 E. Summit Ave. Oconomowoc, WI. 53066), or the First Congregational United Church of Christ.
