Margaret Louise (nee Patoka) Kostuch
Margaret Patoka Kostuch, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, was born on June 28, 1937, the youngest of 10 children, in the charming town of Amherst, Wisconsin, to Alex and Martha Patoka. From her earliest days, Margaret was enveloped in the warmth of a large and loving family, forging bonds that would last a lifetime.
After graduating from Amherst High School in 1955, Margaret began a new chapter of her life when she married the love of her life, Robert Kostuch, on April 21, 1955. Together, they embarked on a journey that would take them to Milwaukee and eventually to Menomonee Falls. With three wonderful children by their side, Margaret and Robert created a home filled with love and laughter, nurturing their daughter Sally and Jeff and later welcoming Jennifer into their hearts as well.
Margaret was the heart of her family, dedicating her life to being a full-time mother until she decided to join the workforce. Her warmth and kindness shone brightly during her years as a lunch lady, and later, in her roles at Kmart and Ponderosa. Each position she held was marked by her signature sweet smile, and the genuine care she extended to everyone she met.
Margaret found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Her rose bushes were a testament to her nurturing spirit, and summer trips back to Amherst were a cherished tradition. She was famed for her potato salad, a staple at family gatherings, and her love for playing sheepshead brought friends and family together for countless evenings of laughter and camaraderie.
Her greatest pride and joy was her granddaughter, Emma Paape, whom she lavished with love and affection. Margaret's home was always open, a welcoming haven where everyone felt like family. Long phone conversations with loved ones were a hallmark of her thoughtful nature, and she ensured that no one ever left her home hungry.
Margaret's family extends heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff of The Cottages Memory Care in Shawano, WI, where Margaret spent six years surrounded by a second family. Their compassionate care, along with the support from Heartland Hospice, provided immense comfort during challenging times.
Margaret is predeceased by her parents, Alex and Martha Patoka, her husband Robert Kostuch, her daughter Sally Bonsack, her son-in-law Scott Paape along with 2 brothers and 7 sisters. She is survived by her children Jeff and (Jean) Kostuch, and Jennifer Paape, and her treasured granddaughter, Emma Paape, who will carry forward her legacy of love and kindness.
