Theresa Marie "Terry" Hartnett
September 20, 1930 - October 2, 2026

(nee Heisler) Age 96, of Bayside, Wisconsin, passed away on 2 October 2026 following a brief illness.

Terry was born in Chicago, Illinois on 20 September 1930 at her grandmother's house to Joseph Heisler and Magdalena Schabinger Heisler.  By her own account, she had a charmed and happy childhood, playing with friends in her Bridgeport neighborhood and spending time with her grandmother Barbara and her favorite aunt, Cecelia.  An A student, Terry won a full scholarship to St. Joseph High School and later their teacher college where she majored in music. She played piano, organ, and violin.

In her early career, Terry worked for TWA as a reservations agent where she met her future husband, Robert Hartnett.  As a young mother in Country Club Hills, she was very active as a volunteer at St. Emeric school as a room mother, school chairman, and an assistant in the school office every Friday.  She also played the organ at the 9:00 a.m. Mass on Sundays. When her children were older, she worked for Illinois Bell until her retirement in 1991 and subsequent move to Wisconsin.  Terry then embarked on her most favorite job of all:  babysitter to her five beloved grandchildren.

Anyone who knew Terry was aware of her deep love and commitment to her family.  All who knew her were embraced as part of that family.  Terry will also be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, all her delicious baked goods: lemon bars, kolaczki, apple slices  (The list goes on!), all the beautiful afghans she crocheted for family and friends, her loyalty to the Chicago Bears even though she lived the last 35 years in Packer territory, and her enthusiastic support as a fan of Notre Dame.  Go, Irish!

Terry is survived by her children: Michelle Hartnett (Eric Frey), Robert Hartnett (Lori Wendler Hartnett), and Brian Hartnett (Jean Swichtenberg Hartnett); by her grandchildren: Andrea Hartnett Anderson (Graham Anderson), Brendan Hartnett (Nikita Vilim Hartnett), Lani Hartnett Salazar (Tony Salazar), Dana Hartnett Carbonneau (Ryan Carbonneau), and Caitrin Hartnett Rose (Josh Rose); by her great grandchildren: Wyatt Anderson, Charlie Anderson, Eleanor Rose, Margot Carbonneau, Lily Carbonneau, Amelia Hartnett, and Lucy Rose.  She is predeceased by her husband, Robert Hartnett; her brother, Joseph Heisler; and her parents, Joseph Heisler and Magdalena Heisler.

Visitation on Friday, October 16, 2026 at St. Eugene Catholic Church, 7600 N Port Washington Road, Fox Point from 12 Noon until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 1 PM.  Private burial at Southern Wisconsin Veteran Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, WI.  In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, any veterans organization, or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
