Lon Drew McFarlin, age 65, passed away on August 24, 2026.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Laverne (nee Girucky) McFarlin, grandparents, aunts and uncles. Lon is survived by his brother, Dean McFarlin (Laurie), nephews, Andrew and Nathaniel and niece Elizabeth.

Lon’s life was marked by perseverance, connection and participation in the world around him. He worked for a time at Goodwill Industries, an experience which contributed to his social connections and relative independence. Lon will be remembered for his kind, gentle nature as well as his love of food and dining out. He enjoyed opportunities to travel and watch movies/television. His favorites included: Star Wars and Ghostbusters.

After Lon’s mother’s death, his father remarried and Lon developed a close personal relationship with his stepmother, Betty Conlon. This was a lasting and important bond that spanned decades and remained strong until his death.

The McFarlin family extends its heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Betty for her incredible devotion to and care for Lon. The family also wishes to thank John A. Stocking, ESQ, for his invaluable legal assistance on Lon’s behalf immediately before and after his mother’s passing and establishing the trust that his mother wanted for him.

Finally, the family wishes to thank Options for Community Growth and Going Beyond Travel for their support of Lon over many years.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Lon’s memory may be made to Options for Community Growth, Going Beyond Travel and their scholarship fund for other enthusiastic travelers and Goodwill Industries.

There will be a private celebration of his life.
