JulieAnn Aschauer Richards, age 71, found peace and eternal life on August 22, 2026. Julie was born on January 30, 1955 to the late Millard William Aschauer and Sharron Lillian Aschauer (nee Trupke). She was the beloved wife of Gregory Lee Richards for 37 years and mother of Michelle Ann Richards and Katherine Elise Richards. They lived in Franklin, Oshkosh, Plover (Stevens Point), and Mequon Wisconsin over the years.

Wisconsin was always home and Door County was her favorite vacation area. Julie and Greg were engaged at an inn in Fish Creek and continued to get away to Door County a few times every year, attending many events and festivals, and staying at several resorts throughout the county.

Julie was a proud 17-year member of the ORDER OF THE EASTERN STAR; a fraternal organization affiliated with Freemasonry. She was initiated into Arbutus chapter Stevens Point in 2009. She held tri-membership in Rainbow chapter Wisconsin Rapids (2011—present), LaBelle chapter Mukwonago (2017—present) and Ozaukee chapter Port Washington (2024—present). Through the years Julie served numerous times as various officers in Rainbow and LaBelle chapters including as Chaplin for Rainbow chapter and two times as Worthy Matron for LaBelle chapter. Julie’s Eastern Star service didn’t just end with her chapter work but she also served in various committees for the Eastern Star Grand Chapter families. Her loss will surely be felt by her Eastern Star Sisters and Brothers.

Julie began her volunteer work in the 1980’s with the Milwaukee Sports Club Ladies Auxiliary where she was one of the initial Captains of the German Fest schnitzel booth. Later she joined the board of the Portage County Historical Society and acted as their event coordinator. For fun she also joined the Red Hat Society, a social organization for woman, and participated in their luncheons. In addition, she loved quilting and crocheting, and made numerous blankets for family, friends, and church members with new-born babies or those going through cancer.

Julie was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Scott Millard Aschauer. She is survived by her husband, two daughters, sister Shelley (Alfred) Balasch, aunt Karyne Bartz, cousins, nieces, nephews, further extended family, and many friends.

While her presence will be deeply missed, her warm heart, joyfulness and good deeds will be remembered by all who knew her forever.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 3 at the Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home, N84 W17937 Menomonee Ave in Menomonee Falls from 10:00 until the time of the Service at 11:30. Procession to Pinelawn Memorial Park in Milwaukee will follow immediately after the service.
