Viola I. Linstedt (Vi) passed away peacefully, with family by her side on Monday, August 24, 2026, at the age of 100. She was preceded in death by her loving soulmate and husband, Stanley, with whom she is now reunited after 40 years; her daughter, Sharon, and her husband, Dan; her daughter, Janet Grunke; and her son-in-law, Mark Doubeck.

Viola was proudly 100% Norwegian, a heritage that shaped her character and helped make her the strong, resilient woman her family admired. She was born in Fargo, North Dakota, and moved with her parents to West Allis, Wisconsin, when she was two years old. As a teenager, she later met and married her beloved husband, Stanley, who proudly served in the United States Air Force. During his service, Viola was stationed with him in Texas.

In 1950, Viola and Stanley built their home in Colgate, Wisconsin, where they raised their family and created many wonderful memories. Viola was a longtime and devoted member of Zion United Methodist Church. She had a strong and unwavering faith throughout her life, which guided and sustained her always. She was also active in the church choir and the Homemakers Club, where she enjoyed being involved in her community. Later in life, Viola returned to Texas to live near her daughter, enjoying precious time with her family and grandchildren. While there, she was a member of Willowwood Church, where she found fellowship and deepened her faith. Before her passing, Viola returned to Wisconsin, where she lived out the remainder of her life surrounded by family and love.

Viola was especially proud of her large family and was actively involved in their lives as they grew up. She cherished every moment with her family and created countless memories that will be treasured for generations to come.

Viola was a beloved mother of Christine (Scott). Proud Grandma of Jeff (Laura), Carrie (Tony), Shelley, Daryl (Natalie), Kenneth (Mike), Rhonda (Gary), Nicholas, Jeremy, Sarah (William) and Samantha (Brandon). Proud “Great” to Mason, Zach, Corissa, Leah, Adam, Jasmine, Zach, Grace, Hollie, Faith, Wyatt, Brantley and Addison. She is further survived by other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home in Sussex (W250 N 6505 Hwy. 164) on Saturday, August 29. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m., with time to greet the family. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 noon. Burial will follow at Zion United Methodist Cemetery in Colgate. Luncheon to follow.

The family extends a heartfelt thank-you to Heidi and Kaidi at Forest View Manor, where she resided, as well as My Choice Wisconsin. We are especially grateful to Preceptor Home Health & Hospice for their compassionate and exceptional care, particularly during her final days. All of your kindness, support, and dedication will always be remembered.

Viola leaves behind a lifetime of love, faith, family and cherished memories. Her 100 years were marked by a beautiful legacy that will live on through her daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her proud Norwegian heritage, strength and resilience will remain an enduring part of the legacy she leaves to her family.
