In the company of his children, Carl Waldschmidt peacefully passed from his temporary home into the kingdom of Heaven on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, age 94 years.  Born on a Tuesday, October 20, 1931, Carl was the youngest of six children to parents Florence (Nee Riebe) and Ben Waldschmidt.

 After completing his education at Lutheran High School, Carl was drafted into the military serving two years in the United States Army. After completing his service to his beloved country, he joined his father and two brothers working in the family business, Waldschmidt & Sons, Incorporated.  Carl eventually became the sole owner and was extremely fortunate to have three of his children join him in building the successful family-owned business, Waldschmidt’s Town & Country Mart. The checkerboard silo has been a landmark in the community since 1949.

 Carl met a beautiful gal named Dolores I. Gehrke at the Bert Phillips Ballroom one summer evening, fell in love, and the two eventually married on June 2, 1956. This union was blessed with four children.  Carl thoroughly enjoyed working and made friends with many loyal customers and farmers that knew him.  He was proud of what he built and even prouder to see the success his children had continuing to build the business. In what little free time he had, Carl enjoyed fishing in northern Wisconsin and Canada, hitting the slots or blackjack tables in Vegas, enjoying a Korbel old-fashioned with family, and following the Packers and Brewers.

 Left to cherish his memory are his children Kurt (Tammy) Waldschmidt, Lynn (Tom) Ertl, and Mark Waldschmidt, son-in-law Craig (Laura) Witzel. Proud grandpa to Ben (Andrea), Nick (Hillary), Nathaniel (Jordanne), Erin, Adam Waldschmidt, Andrea and Jeff (Katherine) Witzel, Ethan and Emily Ertl. Proud great grandpa to Sawyer, Hudson, Amelia, Otis & Ike Waldschmidt. Dear brother to Richard Waldschmidt.

 Those leaving this earthly home before him include his wife of 58 years, Dolores, daughter Karen Witzel, grandchildren Toby and Elisa Ertl, and other dear relatives and friends.

 Visitation Friday, August 7, from 4-p.m. until 5:45 with service following 6:00pm, at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 20813 Forest View Dr., Lannon. Burial will be on Saturday at 10:30 am, at Sunnyside Cemetery, in Lannon. Memorials to St. John’s or charity of your choice.
