Patricia Ann (Leibl) Sommerfeld, 78, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Patricia was born on March 3rd, 1948, to Joseph Leibl and Thecla (Salzberger) Leibl. Throughout her life, she was known for her kindness, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends. Her warm smile, generous spirit, and caring nature touched the lives of many and will be remembered by all who knew her.

Pat devoted many years of her professional life to education, serving as an X-ray Technology instructor at MATC, where she taught and mentored countless students. She took great pride in helping others begin their careers in the medical field and was respected for her knowledge, patience, and dedication to her students' success.

Pat was also a devoted animal lover, especially fond of dogs. She volunteered her time at the Milwaukee County Zoo, where she helped care for animals and lead tours and educate kids on all the different kinds of animals. Her compassion extended beyond people to all living things.

She also loved to travel with her family and created many lasting memories with fun family trips. She and her husband, Randy, shared a passion for travel and enjoyed many cruises together to destinations all over the world, which brought her great joy and happiness.

Pat was a woman of strong Catholic faith and was actively involved in her church community. She volunteered at her church as well as the Menomonee Falls Food Bank often and drew great strength and comfort from caring for the hungry and those in need throughout her life.

She cherished the time she spent with family and friends and found joy in the simple moments of life. She had a remarkable ability to make others feel welcomed, valued, and loved. Her strength, grace, and selflessness were evident in the way she lived her life and cared for those around her.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 47 years, Randy Sommerfeld; her sons, Jason Smerz and Jeff Smerz (Jennifer); her grandchildren, Brett Smerz, Nick Smerz, AJ Smerz, and Ana Smerz; and her sister, Carol Meli (Bob), along with their many children and grandchildren. She is also survived by many other family members and friends who will forever cherish her memory.

A Funeral Mass at Good Shepherd Parish in Menomonee Falls will be announced by the family at a later date.

Pat leaves behind a legacy of kindness, compassion, and devotion. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
