Susan, Andrea, Melissa and Family. When I read the notice, I was and remain heartbroken. I am so very sorry for you and your families. My history with Al dates back to UWM when we were classmates. I admired and respected him so very much. I looked up to him. He was kind to me, confident, hard-working, witty and a true friend. In graduate school, he was a semester ahead of me and took a required course where the prof seemed to be flunking everyone for fun. I was intimidated. I took the course after Al, and with his guidance and support made it through. Without it, I may not have. We became friends and my wife Mary Ann and I then met Susan whom we adored as well. we had fun together. She always made us laugh. I learned much about Al's experience in Vietnam and I am so grateful for his service to our country. I still remember many things he told me when we talked about it. After we graduated, we went our separate ways until we reconnected again when the company he was working for banked with the bank where I was employed. We lost track again after he retired. I was unaware of his diagnosis, and I am so saddened I did not find a way to reconnect. Exchange of Christmas cards was not enough. May you be comforted to know how much others cared about and respected him and the impact he had on others' lives as you mourn his passing from your daily lives. May God bless you all.

To Sue and the Ebert family accept my condolences on the passing of Al! He was a wonderful person, someone you enjoyed being around!
Although not a lifelong friend Al made you feel like one! I am thankful for his service to all of us and our country!
I will miss the gatherings during the Christmas seasons we had, time shared at WACentral reunions he attended with Sue, and those occasional visits to the Ebert home! His smile, humor, wit and wisdom will be greatly missed but always cherished and remembered! Thanks to you and Sue for being a part in our lives!
Rest in Peace, till we meet again!

I love the picture of Al smiling! It reminds me of the first time I met him. He was the District Coordinator for AARP Tax-Aide and I was a newbie. He welcomed me to the team with his friendly smile and patient, caring personality. I could not have had a better mentor than Al! Because of him, many in Waukesha and nearby communities benefitted from his commitment, dedication, and expertise.
My prayers to you, Sue, and your family.
