Albert James Ebert, age 77, passed away peacefully at home on June 16, 2026, after a battle with ALS. He was born on October 12, 1948.

Al was drafted into the United States Army and served in Vietnam from 1969 to 1971. Following his military service, he returned home and pursued his education, earning both his undergraduate degree and MBA from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee.

On June 5, 1976, Al married the love of his life, Susan Bukowsky, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Together they built a wonderful life and shared 50 years of marriage. For the past 41 years, they made their home in Hartland, Wisconsin, where they raised their family.

Al enjoyed a successful career as a Chief Financial Officer before retiring in 2004. He then spent more than 15 years volunteering for the AARP Tax-Aide program, preparing tax returns for residents throughout Waukesha County. Over the years, he helped complete thousands of returns while serving as a tax preparer, site coordinator, and district coordinator. Known for his patience, and expertise, Al became a trusted mentor to fellow volunteers and formed many lasting friendships through his service.

One of the most meaningful experiences of Al’s life came on April 25, 2026, when he participated in the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., accompanied by his daughter, Melissa. The trip provided a heartfelt welcome home and recognition for his military service.

Above all else, Al treasured time with his family. He was a devoted husband, proud father, and loving grandfather. He also enjoyed spending time on the golf course and hunting.

Al is survived by his beloved wife, Susan; his daughters, Andrea (Ryan) Lowerre and Melissa (Jim) Ziegler; and his cherished grandchildren, Janie, Miles, and Maggie Lowerre, and Hadley, Lily, and Zoey Ziegler.

Al also leaves behind his brother, John, extended family members, many dear friends and former colleagues who will miss his wisdom, kindness, quiet sense of humor, and unwavering dedication to those he loved.

A private family celebration of Al’s life will take place. Memorials in Al’s name can be made to the Stars & Stripes Honor Flight.

“Love you, take care”
