James R. Webber, 98 years old, died May 9, 2026, in Mukwonago, WI.
James is survived by sons Ronald (Bev) of Mukwonago, WI, Bill (Laurie) of Bethesda, MD, and Michael (Cindi) Webber of Chicago, IL. He is further survived by grandchildren Tim Webber, Cindy Huntington, Carolyn (Matt) Miller, Becky (Alex) Levine, Joanie (Tim) Mooradd, and Max and Charlie Webber. Also left to cherish his memory are 9 great grandchildren.
James was born on July 18, 1927, to parents Homer and Frances Webber and raised on their family farm in Wayne County, IL. He entered the US Navy in 1945 during WWII and served in the Philippines as Seaman 1st Class.
A dedicated employee, James had a 40-year career with General Electric Company in the appliance motor division in DeKalb IL, Ft. Wayne IN, and Sao Paulo, Brazil. With broad knowledge of mechanical and electrical things, James could repair almost anything. He used these skills doing volunteer work repairing audio book tape players for the visually impaired. He also fully designed and built a substantial part of their family home in DeKalb, IL.
James traveled widely across the USA and visited several countries in South America and Europe, the Philippines, Singapore, and Israel. He was also an accomplished downhill snow skier well into his 70’s.
In addition to his parents and his beloved wife of 65 years, Faith M. Webber (nee Peddicord), James was preceded in death by brother Lester Webber and half-brothers Glenn Webber, and Virgil and Eugene Braddy.
The Webber family extends their thanks and gratitude to the staff at Linden Ridge and Linden Grove in Mukwonago, and to Commonheart Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 19 at 10AM, followed by a funeral service at 11AM at First Congregational Church of Mukwonago (231 Roberts Dr). A burial will take place the following day, May 20, at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City, IL at 3:30PM.
