Gregory John Pehler, 78, of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2026. Born on May 17, 1947, in Arcadia, WI, Greg lived a life defined by quiet strength, deep faith, and an unwavering devotion to the people he loved.
For 40 years, Greg served as a USDA meat inspector — a career that reflected the same steadiness and integrity he brought to everything he did. He showed up, day after day, providing for his family without hesitation and without complaint. To Greg, that was simply what you did for the people who mattered most. And family meant the world to him. Greg was deeply devoted to his faithful wife, Jenny, with whom he would have celebrated 56 years of marriage this year – a life built on love, partnership and shared memories. Together they cherished their retirement time in Fairfield Glade, TN where they enjoyed the beauty of the mountains, golf and many joyful moments with dear friends before returning to Wisconsin several years ago.
Whether it was a kind word, a patient ear, or a well-timed joke that caught you completely off guard, Greg had a gift for making the people around him feel seen and loved. Those who knew him will remember his patience, his gentleness, and a sense of humor that was as warm as it was genuine. His Catholic faith was the bedrock of his life-a quiet, steady compass that guided him through every season.
Greg is survived by his beloved wife, Jenny; his daughter Karen (Mike) Harrington and his son Kevin (Laura) Pehler; and his four cherished grandchildren, Maddy, Jack, Charlie and Ben.
He is also survived by seven siblings: Gaylord “Butch” (Judy) Pehler, Fr. Gerry Pehler OFM Cap., Gordon (Sue)Pehler, Gerard (Laura) Pehler, Gabe (Karen) Pehler, George Pehler, and Sr. Bernadette Pehler. Greg was preceded in death by his sister Barbara Mrdutt (Pehler) and his parents Gregory and Luana (Herrick) Pehler.
Greg, you were patient. You were kind. You were faithful. And you were ours.
