Richard "Rick" Lustig born June 17, 1941 in Milwaukee, WI and attended Holy Redeemer Catholic School although ultimately was a graduate of Custer High School Class of 1959. Rick passed away on January 6th 2026.
He went on to earn his diploma at Milwaukee Vocational and Adult Schools for Barbering and had a 3 year apprenticeship. Later he went on to earn his degree in Marketing from Milwaukee Institute of Technology. During which time he spent 6 years in the Air Force Reserves.
After his schooling, Rick drove up to Marinette, WI for an interview and was hired as a salesperson in the Milwaukee territory for Aerial Beauty Supply. He worked there many years and played a key role opening the headquarters in West Allis and then later in New Berlin, WI heading and developing the Education Department. He even earned his real estate license and started a company named Salon Brokers to help owners buy, sell, or value hair salons.
In 1982, Rick, along with his wife Sher, opened their own Beauty Supply distributorship named Professional Salon Products (PSP). They serviced many licensed beauty professionals throughout Wisconsin for 18 years until their retirement in 2000. Like many, they moved to Southern Florida to live out their retirement, but after 2 years Rick found the need to be busy and that's when he started "Rick The Scissor Man". In 2007, Rick and Sher became home sick for family, friends, and mostly their daughter Re'Bekah, and moved back to Wisconsin. In 2020, he revived "Rick The Scissor Man" in the Milwaukee/Ozaukee area. Rick loved the beauty industry and had the highest regard for the hair designers who are the backbone of the industry.
Rick was a family man and took deep pride in his family. He made friends everywhere he went and loved a good cocktail. He had the ability to appreciate the comical aspects of life, laughed easily, and often made others laugh. He enjoyed a great prank and looked forward to April Fool's each year! His blue eyes twinkled whenever he was teasing you. He was a great dancer and enjoyed twirling his daughter around the polka floor. He was a history buff and liked trains, planes, and classic cars. Every year on his Christmas list he asked for a 57 Chevy (he once received a matchbox car). Rick never shot a deer but loved going drinking with his buddies, oh, we mean hunting up in Crivitz, WI and in the Spring, he enjoyed fishing. His favorite time to travel was in the Fall, in awe of the leaves changing to brilliant colors. He loved watching the wildlife in the backyard and fed all the animals (it looked like a Disney movie). Rick was a great dog dad and even after the passing of their last furry companion, Murphy, Rick carried treats to feed any pup he came across. He was compassionate and kind, often placing memorials on headstones paying respect to those he never met.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Alfred and Leora Lustig. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sher Lustig, daughter Re'Bekah Lustig (Joshua Scarver). He is preceded in death by his brother Alfred Lustig (survived by his sister-in-law Janice Watson-Lustig and nephew Andrew Lustig); preceded in death by his sister Marianne Warner (survived by niece Jennifer Pieper (Scott) plus grandnephews Cole and Cade Merkes; as well as nephew Todd Warner); survived by his sister-in-law Charlotte Lehmann (Karsten); niece Karla Lehmann (Julia), niece Ingrid Lehmann, and nephew Scott Lehmann; brother-in-law Paul Spencer (Carolyn).
