James C. Partleton, age 103, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2025, in Mequon, Wisconsin.
Jim lived a long and meaningful life marked by service, dedication, and a deep love for his family. After attending the United States Coast Guard Academy, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II, spending time in the South Pacific. His military service was a source of quiet pride throughout his life.
Following the war, Jim attended business school and began a long and successful career with Ohio Casualty Insurance Company. He started working in Washington, D.C., where he met his first wife, Rosemary. Together they raised three daughters while Jim’s career led the family through several relocations. In 1963, they settled in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, which remained home for many years.
After Rosemary’s passing, Jim found companionship and happiness again when he married Carol Dickson, with whom he shared many loving years.
Jim was a man of steady character and gentle presence. He enjoyed woodworking, playing bridge, fishing, and golfing—pastimes that reflected his patience, skill, and appreciation for time spent with others. He was thoughtful, dependable, and deeply devoted to his family, taking great pride in their lives and accomplishments.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; five siblings; and his wives, Rosemary and Carol.
He is survived by his daughters Lynn Hudy of Shorewood, Beth Partleton of Fernandina Beach, Florida, and Chris Partleton (Bill Harris) of Fernandina Beach, Florida; his stepchildren Karl Dickson (Lisa) of Bayside, WI, and Betsy Dickson Witt of La Jolla, CA; his grandchildren Jamie Hudy, Todd Hudy, Callie Dickson, Charlie Dickson, and Megan Witt; and his cherished great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at Newcastle Place from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., with a service to follow.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all of the caregivers at Newcastle Place for their compassionate care, kindness, and dedication to Jim.
