John, A. "Jay" Blair
June 9, 1970 - December 5, 2025

Jay (John) Alexander Blair, 55, of Germantown, Wisconsin, passed away on December 5, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Jay was known as a deeply loving individual who cared fiercely for his family and the people in his life. A devoted man of God, he lived with humility, strength, and an unwavering commitment to others. His legacy— one of compassion, generosity, gentle humor, and steadfast devotion—will continue to shine brightly in everyone blessed to have known him.

Born with a keen eye for detail and a boundless curiosity, Jay excelled in anything involving tools, problem-solving, or craftsmanship. In his free time, he pursued a remarkable range of passions. He was a dedicated trap shooter and cherished his time spent at Daniel Boone Conservation League with his team, the Wrecking Crew. His success in the sport came not from seeking to be the best, but from the pure love he had for it. From a young age, Jay also showed exceptional talent as a motocross rider. Whether on two wheels, three, or four, Jay could pull a wheelie on anything that moved, earning countless stories from friends and family who loved watching him ride. His approach was always humble—he took pride in the joy of the skill itself, never in showing off.

For over 30 years, Jay was an integral part of his family’s business, Blair’s True Value, where he served as store manager before joining his brother Jeremy in leading the commercial department of Induserve. To countless customers, Jay wasn’t just an employee—he was the person they sought out by name, trusted both for his expertise and his kindness.

Jay was happiest working with his hands. He spent many hours in the garage blacksmithing, pounding metal on his anvil, machining parts from scrap, and even smelting his own ingots for new creations. People were often left speechless by the breadth of his knowledge about metalworking and all things mechanical. As the neighborhood handyman, he was the person everyone called when something broke. And if Jay couldn’t fix it, it was universally agreed that it simply couldn’t be fixed. Yet despite his incredible skill, he never boasted. He believed there was always more to learn, and when he shared what he knew, it was always to teach, not to impress. Reserved by nature, Jay’s words carried weight. As his daughter Jenna lovingly said, “He was a really cool guy.”

Jay found joy in the simple and meaningful moments: hiking and exploring national parks with his family, gathering at home with the people he loved, and creating things with his hands. His quiet strength, humility, and generosity left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Jay shared a lifelong love with his wife, Julie Blair, his best friend and high school sweetheart. Together they built a home filled with warmth, love, laughter, and adventure alongside their children, Jordan and Jenna Blair, who were the pride of his life. He is also survived by his siblings Jeremy, Jeannie, Jennifer, and Jim, all of whom held a special place in his heart. Jay is preceded in death by his father, Robert Blair, and by his dear friend Jack Jensen.

The visitation will be held on Friday, December 12, at Schmidt and Bartelt Funeral Home in Menomonee Falls from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., followed by a service at 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated. Please join us for his celebration of life the following day, Saturday, December 13, at Bub’s Irish Pub in Germantown from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The Blair family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to all of Jay’s friends and relatives who provided rides to appointments, offered support, and walked alongside the family throughout his journey, especially Ben and Deana Emery who were there every step of the way. They also offer special thanks to the exceptional team of doctors at Froedtert Hospital for their dedication and care. Jay will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by all whose lives he touched
