Mary Beth Miller Porter, 79, passed away October 10, 2025, in Greensboro, NC.  A lifelong native of Wisconsin, Mary moved to NC in 2017 after retiring from Shorehaven of Oconomowoc to be closer to her three children.  Born in Mifflin in 1946, Mary was the youngest child of Ernest Holmes and Geneva Holmes McCabe.  Besides her parents, preceded in death was her much loved stepfather, Gilbert McCabe who raised her, her husband, Roger D. Miller, a brother, LeRoy Holmes, and two sisters, Delores Lynch and Karen Fish; as well as a special brother in-law, Donald J. Miller and sister in-law Doris Rein. 

Surviving family members include her daughter, Lori (Perry) Godwin, sons Troy Miller and Todd Miller. Grandchildren Joshua (Lisa) Johnson of CO., Jeremy Johnson of NC, and Madison Godwin of NC.  Great grandchildren Thomas, Taylor and Shad Johnson of CO. Brothers and sisters, Roger Holmes, Jerry Holmes, Joan (John) Connors, and Janice Miller. Plus, many beloved nieces and nephews and special friends of 63 years, Jerry and Cleo Salmon.

While Mary loved to cook, bake and feed loved ones, her ultimate love was the Green Bay Packers. She was an avid lifetime fan.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Afton Township Cemetery or St. Jude's Children Hospital.

Memorial services will be held Saturday October 25, 2025 at Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home 121 S. Cross St. Oconomowoc from 10am until time of service at 12pm. Mary will be laid to rest with her husband at Afton Cemetery 4303 Cemetery Rd. following the memorial services.
