David and Marilyn married on May 16, 1953.  They belonged to United Presbyterian Church of Vernon where Marilyn taught Sunday School when their children were young.  She belonged to one of the women’s circles that met once a month, and she and David both helped with the many church dinners and later, fish fries.  David started a dartball league with seven other churches in the area, was a trustee and eventually an elder of their church.  He was also on the board of directors for Waukesha County Ins, and a member of the Big Bend planning committee.  He worked as road maintenance for 11 years for the Town of Vernon.

Marilyn worked at the dime store in Waukesha until she began to raise her family at which time she started helping with the farm until the children were in the upper grades of school.  Later she worked at Bolt’s egg processing plant in Tess Corners as a lead person.  They eventually quit farming, and David went to work for the Town of Vernon Highway Department before they retired in 1995 and 1997.

David’s hobbies were fishing and hunting, and Marilyn’s were fishing, sewing, and crafts.  Together they enjoyed traveling the Midwest in their motor home, camping, and boating with their pontoon.
