Roger H. Schroeder
November 23, 1942 - September 6, 2025

A much-loved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Roger H. Schroeder, 82, of Mequon, WI, passed away peacefully at his home September 6, 2025. He bravely confronted and fought cancer. He was born November 23, 1942, in Watertown, WI. He graduated from Watertown High School in 1960 where he met the love of his life, Shirley, in 1959. Roger received a BBA in Accounting from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1964. He and Shirley were married June 27, 1964, and enjoyed 61 years together raising a family, cheering on sports teams, and traveling extensively. A much loved tradition was the annual trip to Bay Shore Inn which started in 1972 and continued uninterrupted ever since.

Roger served in the United States Army for two years after his college graduation. He joined the public accounting firm KPMG in 1966, eventually becoming a partner with the firm. He was the tax partner in charge of the Milwaukee office when he retired in 1999. After his retirement from KPMG, he was pleased to have the opportunity to enjoy two second careers. In one, he was a part-time professor at his beloved alma mater UW-Madison for 5 years, teaching advanced tax classes. In the other, he provided financial and tax services for a family office of the Lewis family. That second career lasted 25 years and he genuinely enjoyed working with the entire Lewis family.

Roger was an enthusiastic Badger fan and had season football tickets for over 40 years. He and Shirley traveled the US to cheer on those Badgers! He loved golf and was a member of Ozaukee Country Club for over 40 years, serving as president for 2 years. Near and dear to his heart was the Next Door Foundation where he volunteered for over 40 years. In addition, he committed his time to many other organizations including Rotary Club of Milwaukee, Better Business Bureau and the Public Policy Forum. Roger was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church and volunteered his time as treasurer.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley M. Schroeder; children: Christine (Doug) Kennedy, Carla (Andy) Hilt and Cathy (Brian) Huibregtse; grandchildren Austin (Alycia), Logan (Kaitlyn), Carson, Jackson, Jacob, Kyah, Caleb, Parker, and Hunter; great grandchildren: Aubrey, Haisley, Millie and Callum. He is further survived by family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 15, 2025 at Fox Point Lutheran Church from 10:00 am-12:00 pm with a memorial service beginning at 12:00 pm. A celebration of life luncheon will be held after the service at Fox Point Lutheran Church with a private burial to follow.
