James David Meissner
October 2, 1934 - August 3, 2025

Of Sussex. Peacefully made his way to Heaven August 3, 2025 at the age of 90. Best friend and former husband of Peg (Pedersen) Meissner. Loving father of the late David, Jody (Pat) Wheaton, the late Jeff and Scott (Gidget). Cherished grandpa of Josh, Andrew, Jessica (Seth), Bennett and Harrison and great-grandpa of Peggy. Brother of Susan (Jim) Hanson, and special uncle. Further survived by other family and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents Arthur (Archie) and Theresa, brothers Richard, Paul and Tom.

Jim was born in Menominee, Michigan and worked at his family business Meissner TV and eventually started his own branch of Meissner TV, when he moved down to this area. Jim was a Golden Glove boxer in his younger days. He was also in the Army National Guard for 8 years. He loved to work out, walk a good 4 miles a day, ride his bike and he had an uncanny love of math, and would do random math problems just for fun. He had such a big compassionate heart and would make a point of letting people know all of the positives he saw in them. When things got rough for Jim towards his time to go home, he still made sure to let the people who were helping him know how much he appreciated them and that he couldn't believe that they were there for him.

On behalf of Jim and all of his family, we would like to give a great big, very much appreciated “Thank you” to the amazing Hospice team at Preceptor for always showing kindness, compassion and love to Jim and his family. You all we're so wonderful!

A memorial service for Jim will be held at Crossway Church, N64 W22680 State Hwy 74 Sussex, Wisconsin, Thursday, August 14th 2025. Visitation will be from 4 to 5 PM with the service to follow at 5 PM.
