Sandra J. Hartman
June 16, 1964 - August 5, 2025

(née Zimmerman) Our beloved Sandy was welcomed home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at the age of 61. She is survived by her husband Dan of 10 years; her children Jennifer (Stewart) Wempe and Justin (Greta) Wempe; her grandchildren Eleanor, Alexa, Brayden, Rowan, Fynnick, Ashlin, and Warren; and her siblings Donna (Milo) Zwieg, Patrick Zimmerman, Michael (Barb) Zimmerman, and Jim Zimmerman (Vicki Samolyk). She is preceded in death by her parents John and Marjorie Zimmerman, her sister Susan Gauerke, and her brother-in-law Don Gauerke. Further survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Sandy lived a life full of adventure and traveling with her loved ones. She enjoyed camping with her husband, frequenting Wisconsin state parks. She has been all over the U.S. and to national parks with her sister Donna and brother Pat. Her kids will always have fond memories of the vacations she took them on during their childhood.

Sewing, knitting, baking cookies, building cabinets, tiling a whole shower and bathroom floor—you name it and she could do it. She was our Handy Sandy.

When she wasn’t with family or friends, Sandy was working at Bank Five Nine in oconomowoc where she was for over 25 years. She was saddened when she had to retire because of ALS taking her voice and body from her.

She taught those around her to savor the little things—the quietness of the early morning in a forest, the grass blowing in the wind on the farm, the time spent with someone even while doing nothing. Sandy brought joy and laughter to everyone around her. She is the heart of her family.

Visitation will be held from 11 AM until the time of Funeral Service 1:30 PM on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Schmidt and Bartelt Funeral Home, 121 S Cross St, Oconomowoc. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the ALS Association. Private burial will take place at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield.
