John Charles Wolf was born in the Wolf family home on the grounds of the Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi convent in St. Francis, Wisconsin. He was the youngest of eleven children born to Agnes Reinehr and John Martin Wolf, and was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Frances (Irvin Brenaman); Lawrence (Christine); Sister Helen, Order of the Good Shepherd; Andrew (Irene); Margaret (Bernard Chevrier); Thecla (Robert Hoopingarner); Agnes; Herman (Jennie); Mary (Louis Strzyzewski); and Mathilda (Leo Muszynski).
After serving in the U.S Army during the Korean Conflict, John dedicated 35 years to AT&T, retiring in 1990 as an expert in the installation and maintenance of communications networks. He was widely respected and often called upon to address challenges across the U.S. and Canada. Following his retirement, he continued his career as a consultant with CC&N, a wired and wireless network solutions firm.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Joan; their three children, Bonnie (John) Vasilion, Sandra (Scot) Hillers, and John (Jamie); six grandchildren, Danielle Wolf, Gregory (Annie) Vasilion, Adam (Sierra) Wolf, Zachary (Victoria) Vasilion, Elena (Laura) Vasilion, and Lilly Wolf; and great-granddaughter Nora Vasilion. Also left to cherish his memory are 40-plus nieces and nephews who affectionately refer to him as Uncle Johnny.
A devoted family man and dedicated community member, John gave generously of his time—delivering Meals on Wheels, helping at fish fries and festival chicken dinners at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, supporting the East Troy Food Pantry, working blood drives and Habitat for Humanity projects, and assisting seniors as a Eucharistic minister and at the Walworth County Fair. He also served as past president of the Booth Lake Association.
John found joy in nature and spent his final days in the home he loved in East Troy, surrounded by trees, birdsong, and the community that meant so much to him. The family is grateful for the outpouring of kindness from friends and neighbors.
Memorials in John’s name may be made to the East Troy Food Pantry (P.O. Box 233, East Troy, WI 53120); the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America (myasthenia.org); or St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in East Troy (https://www.saintpeterscatholic.church/).
Memorial service details will be posted at a later date. We encourage you to wear blue at the memorial service as that was John’s favorite color.
