Donald Fox
June 29, 1930 - July 4, 2025

Donald J. Fox was born to Eternal Life on the Fourth of July, 2025.

Don was born on June 29, 1930 in Johnstown, PA to George and Henrietta Fox. He graduated from Southmont High School on May 26, 1948, after lettering in Basketball and Football Varsity sports. His love of sport remained with him until his final days.

Don then attended the Great Lakes Naval Academy where a fellow sailor, Jack Hastings, introduced him to his sister, June. The rest is history! Don and June were married on March 21, 1953 and were married for 68 years before June passed in 2021. The family grew quickly and abundantly, with June giving birth to Rick in 1954 while Don was away in the Navy. Don finally met his first son 6 months later. 5 more children followed!

Don served Our Country with proud distinction as a member of the US Navy from 1951-1954. He sailed aboard the USS Newman K. Perry. Don’s love of country and patriotism showed through in everything he did and was a trait he instilled deeply in all his children.

Following the Navy, Don attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering on June 21, 1957. The first of many in a line of Badgers stretching several generations!

Don’s professional career took off at Allen-Bradley, where he worked for 17 years. He was credited along with a co-worker for inventing an “Encapsulated Microcircuit Package and Method for Assembly Thereof”, U.S. Patent No. 4,012,579. Don went on to enjoy successful careers at several other manufacturing plants, ending at In-SInk-Erator on September 29, 1995.

Don’s love of baseball, football, golf and really anything that bounced was obvious. He was a dedicated fan of the Brewers, Badgers, Packers and Steelers and rarely missed a game.

However, the thing Don cherished the most was his family. As the kids became adults and started their careers and families, he was always involved. His favorite day was one spent with his family. His final birthday was June 29, 2025, when he turned 95 and enjoyed a special day with many of his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids.

Don is survived by his children, Richard (Denyse) Fox, Cathy Weis, Brian (Chuckie) Fox, Robert (Mindy) Fox, Sandy (Kurt) Bartel and Sue (Scott) Opper, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at Hartland Terrace for their compassion, love and kindness as they cared for Don the last several years.
