WAUKESHA- (Nee Schaffer). Born to Eternal Life on Monday, March 25, 2024. Age 79 years. Dear mother of Rebecca Elz and Christina (Tim) Wiedenbauer.  Loving grandmother of Erika, Stephanie, Justin, Ryan and Tyler.  Dear sister of John (Cynthia) Schaffer. Further survived by her brother-in-law, John Cronce, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

Preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Edward W. Pope who passed away on January 12, 2018; her parents, Frank and Sylvia Schaffer and her sister, Margaret Cronce.   

Visitation Friday, April 5, 2024 from 10:30am until Time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30-12:30 at St Sebastian Parish 5400 W Washington Blvd, Milwaukee, WI 53208

Entombment Holy Cross Cemetery, Milwaukee. 

Joan was born in Milwaukee on May 23, 1944 to Frank and Sylvia (nee Schultz) Schaffer.  She was a long-time elementary school teacher at Milwaukee Public schools, St. Jerome Catholic Church in Oconomowoc, St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown, and St. Peter in Slinger. She loved to read, swim, garden, paint, write poetry, and travel. She was very spirtual and religious and found comfort with the church. She enjoyed being near nature and taking care of nature. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
