August 7, 1928 - March 4, 2023

John W. Lietzau passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family Saturday, March 3, 2023, at the age of 94. John was born August 7, 1928, in Menomonee Falls, WI to Emma (nee Bradee) and John F. Lietzau, the youngest of five children. Loving husband of Olive (nee Hauser) for 72 years. Loving father of Jack (Jean), Linda (Dwight) Zimmermann, Robert (Patty), Dyanne (James) Van Hecke, Terry (Dawn) and grandfather to 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends. John has been greeted at the gates of heaven by his son Thomas who preceded him in death, along with his parents, siblings, other relatives and many dear friends. Along with his wife Olive, John was a Charter member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church located in Menomonee Falls and served as an active member in communion ministry. John and Olive also together founded the family business Lietzau Inc. in 1954. John served the Germantown community as Village Trustee for ten years. In his retirement John discovered a new passion for woodworking. And he enjoyed the special camaraderie during his gatherings with the Romeos and his Neighborhood Crew. As our family gathered around John this past week, we were lovingly reassured by the outpouring of gratitude and respect shown to John and Olive. We have learned that everyone John knew will greatly cherish his love and humor and his profound impact on their lives. God has blessed us all to carry on his incredible legacy. The family wishes to acknowledge with heartfelt gratitude Dr. Kumar Sujeet and Dr. Jeffrey Bejma for their incredible loving care for many years.
