JoAnne, my Sista, I will miss you immensely. The gracious host that you were and all the fun we've had working together. You made life so much more enjoyable with your smile and generosity. Love you always, Nancy S.

How blessed were we to have Joanne in our lives. Me especially (Laurel), Jo was a “Chosen Aunt”. She was paired with my Aunt Chickie and Roger with my Uncle Paul in every childhood memory. Our “ fiery red head”. She scared the crap outta me as a child and grew into a dear friend, confidant, a welcome visitor to Texas, shopping-decorating-gardening, books and movies buddy.
One day in TX, Jo and my Mom came out to the barn where I was finishing up working out one of my horses. Her name was Alibi. She was a beautiful tricolored paint cutting horse with major attitude. I was cooling her down and Jo asked “Can I ride her?” Really?? Jo had set her mind to it….I verbalized my concern and hoped I wore Alibi out during training. I also put them in the large round pen for added safety. Up Jo went (always wear a helmet) like she’s been doing this her whole life. They started slowly and moved to a trot. Jo looked fantastic and was enjoying herself….perhaps a little too much. Jo kicks and now they’re moving. She’s yipping! Having a blast! Wooting and yipping but mostly laughing. Alibi dropped her butt and her back legs slid forward for 6 feet. She smoothly rose without popping Jo and settled! It was incredible!!! That mare made me earn everything while on her and she gifted that moment to Jo!!! Later that evening Jo and my Mom wore crowns at dinner as we celebrated!!! That fiery red headed spirit will be carried forward with love.
