Dr. Mark C. Hochmuth
September 28, 1950 - June 12, 2022

Mark Hochmuth, loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday June 12 at the age of 71.

Mark was born on September 28, 1950 in Milwaukee, WI to Everett and Beverly Hochmuth.  Mark was preceded in death by his father Everett Hochmuth and mother Beverly (Lade). He is survived by his wife Laura (née Behm), son Nathan, and daughter Allison (Tom Johnson and step grandson Noel Johnson). He also leaves behind his brother Jay (Eileen), his sister Karen Koeper (Michael), his nieces Kari Stoddard (Andrew) and Janae Hochmuth and his nephews Mike Koeper and Jared Hochmuth.

Mark grew up in Wauwatosa and graduated from Wauwatosa East. After completing his master’s degree at Michigan State and his doctoral degree at Marquette University, he began a long and successful career as a school and clinical psychologist. In between, there were long stints as a Yellow Cab owner and driver and as a beer vendor at County Stadium. Mark was respected and appreciated by his colleagues in the Racine County and Burlington School Districts as well as by fellow psychologist and longtime friend Wayne Harder, his associate in private practice. Most recently, Mark was a psychologist at various nursing homes on the south side and west side of the Milwaukee area.

“Doc Hoc” was a kind and generous soul, a wonderful family man, and a lover of life. He enjoyed several pastimes including golf, over-reacting to sports, and especially meeting every dog in the neighborhood. Music festivals were his natural habitat, and he was known to enjoy hosting a great party with good old fashioned German Gemütlichkeit.

Join us on Sunday July 17 for a celebration of Mark: a big guy with a great big heart. The gathering at Wil-O-Way Underwood in Wauwatosa begins at 11:00am. Music, lunch, and stories about Mark will be shared in his honor.
