John R. Bain
October 18, 1925 - October 15, 2021

John Richard Bain (“Jack”), 95, cherished husband, dad, and grandpa, was welcomed into the arms of his loving Lord and Savior on Friday, October 15, 2021.

John was born in Racine, WI, on October 18, 1925, the son of Harold W. Bain and Elsa (Kark) Bain. John is preceded in death by his parents as well as by his older brother, Harold Bain, and by his older sister, Jean Mihlsimmer.

John married Delores Jean Beversdorf on May 16, 1953, at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano, WI, after they were introduced by friends during a blind date. Even after Delores convinced John to get rid of his Harley, John would happily declare on each anniversary that, “He’d do it all the same again if given the chance.” John and Delores loved dancing throughout their 68 years of marriage together, and Delores looks forward to continuing an even more joyful dance with Jesus when she is reunited with John in their heavenly home.

Additional survivors include daughter Carrie Murphy (Patrick) and sons Daniel Bain (Julie) and Steven Bain (Janeen), along with grandchildren Rachel Bain, Timothy Bain (Kathryn), Christopher Murphy, Rebekah Bain, Jenna Bain, David Bain, and Aaron Bain.

John grew up in Wauwatosa, WI, and graduated from Wauwatosa High School in 1943. He then served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. Following the war, John attended classes at the University of Wisconsin’s Milwaukee extension and then spent his entire career as a draftsman and facilities engineer at Wisconsin Bell Telephone Company.

John’s life centered on family and serving at his church. He loved taking road trips throughout the country when he wasn’t fishing, camping, boating, cross country skiing, bowling, golfing, or playing cards with family and friends. Days spent at Long Lake State Park in the Kettle Moraine were extra-special family events. John rarely missed a sporting event or musical performance by one of his children or grandchildren. John was a long-time member of Grace Lutheran Church in Menomonee Falls, WI, where he volunteered in multiple capacities. John passionately followed the Green Bay Packers throughout his life.

John leaves a legacy of faith, family, and friends to be carried forward by those who had the privilege of being associated with him. John will be greatly missed.

Visitation with family will be held at Schmidt and Bartelt Funeral Home, N84 W17937 Menomonee Falls, WI 53051 on Friday, October 22, 2021, from 3pm until John’s memorial service at 4pm. Family and friends may also sign the online guestbook at https://schmidtandbartelt.com/obituaries.

John’s cremated remains will be interred at Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano, WI, during a private ceremony at a later date.
