March 7, 1946 – October 17, 2021 (age 75)

 Kathleen (Polkinghorn) Duffy, age 75, died unexpectedly on October 17, 2021. Kathy married James E. Duffy on September 25, 1971 at St. Bernard in Madison, WI and they shared 50 years of marriage together.

 Born in Madison, WI, she was the daughter of Mary I. Schwichtenberg and Charles W. Polkinghorn. She graduated from Edgewood High School and the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she studied Home Economics. Kathy spent the first three years of her marriage in Taipei, Taiwan where Jim was assigned with the US Navy. In Taipei, Kathy worked in Public Relations at the Navy Exchange, where she photographed, wrote newspaper articles, and planned events. She taught Home Economics at Oconomowoc Junior High School and substituted in school districts in Wisconsin and Michigan. A published author, she also worked for various publishing companies.

 She was a member of St. Mary Parish, Menomonee Falls, WI. Kathy gave of her time and talent to St. Mary’s as a lector, environment volunteer, and wedding coordinator. She volunteered with the Germantown Library, Wisconsin American Legion Auxiliary Badger Girls State, and as an election worker. An avid pie baker, sewer, cross-stitch artist, and knitter, her creations included wedding and prom dresses, countless cross stitch pieces, and scarves. She will be remembered for her love of the flowers and yard art in her garden and cheering for the Badgers, Packers, Brewers, and your World Champion Milwaukee Bucks.

 She is survived by her husband James, children Timothy (Martha), Jane Duffstein (Julie), grandchildren Grace and Claire, and her furry grandchildren. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents Mary and Charles Polkinghorn and her sister Beverly and brother Donald.

 The family would like to thank the ER staff at Froedtert Hospital Menomonee Falls for their kind and compassionate care.

 The Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Kathleen at St. Mary's Mother of God Parish N89 W16297 Cleveland Ave. Menomonee Falls, beginning 9:30am on Thursday December 9th 2021. 

Due to the current health situation  the family kindly ask that you wear  a face mask while attending the services. If you do not have a mask one will be provided for you.
