Margaret was born in Decatur, Indiana on August 27, 1954, the oldest child of 12 to Joan and Lowell Hawbaker. As the oldest daughter of a marine family, she moved many times throughout her childhood, eventually settling in Kenosha, Wisconsin. She attended St Joseph High School, followed by college at Mount Mary in Milwaukee. While a Junior in college she met the love of her life, Peter Gadsby. Margaret and Peter married June 2, 1979. Their adventures began after Peter and Margaret graduated from college and pursued Peter’s successful biomedical engineer career to Ohio, New York, Wisconsin, Washington, Georgia, Massachusetts, Colorado, Michigan and finally back to Wisconsin.
