Janet ‘Jan’ Hammond

August 9, 1936 - May 10, 2021

Of Sister Bay, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2021 at the age of 84.

Loving mother of Monique (Mark) Swiecichowski of New Berlin and Mitchell (Carrie) of Findlay OH; loving grandmother of Nicole (Quinn) Hundertmark, Andrew Swiecichowski, Sam Griffith, Melina and Nickolas Hammond. Great grandmother of Dawson Hundertmark. Preceded by death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Chuck, her parents Henry and Genevieve Aykens and sister Eileen Warnock. Survived by many nieces and nephews.

Born in Batavia IL, she relocated with her minister family multiple times before graduating high school in Carmi IL, further graduating from the Presbyterian School of Nursing, Chicago in 1958. She married in 1959 and shortly thereafter moved to France per Chuck’s Army transfer orders. They transferred multiple times before settling in Neenah.

In addition to raising their children, she followed her passions through various volunteer efforts such as the American Red Cross and American Lung Association.  She was active in the Theda Clark Axillary.  She was also Secretary of State, planned and co-chaired an annual meeting and lobbied for various causes on behalf of the State Medical Axillary.

Her other joys included her family, nursing school friends (‘The Presby Things’), other dear friends she made throughout her life, traveling with Chuck, and boating.

Mom we will miss you but take solace that you are finally pain free, have regained your independence, and are once again with the love of your life.

Private family services will be held.
