Moritz F. Koch
Moritz Francis Koch found peace in the arms of our Savior on Thursday, February 25, 2021, at the age of 94. He was preceded in death by Fern Florine Koch (née Wetzel), his beloved wife of 68 years. He is survived by their 4 loving children Randy (Barb), Melody (Mark) Ruhbusch, Maurice (Diane), and Sally (Paul) Kowalczyk. He will be missed by their 7 grandchildren: Chad (Julie), Claire (Tim) Hanschke, Troy (Shannon), Todd (Myranda), and Ryan, Sarah and Bonnie Kowalczyk, and their 10 great-grandchildren.
Moritz was also preceded in death by his parents (August and Elinor Koch (née Friebel)), two sisters and their spouses: Jean and John Knapek, and Juliet and Alois Galarowitz. Moritz will be missed by his many relatives and friends.
Moritz and Fern were charter members of Peace Lutheran Church in Sussex, their church home for almost 60 years. Moritz held various church offices through the years. In addition to his many years devoted to church activities, Moritz was a Marine veteran of WWII, and a member of the Horne-Mudlitz VFW Post 6377 in Sussex.
Moritz’s words of wisdom and paternal guidance to his family will always be treasured, as will the positive impact he had with countless relatives, friends, and business associates who were fortunate to have known him.
A celebration of his life and visitation will be held at Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home, W250N6505 Hwy 164, Sussex on Friday, March 5, from 4-7:30 pm. On Saturday, March 6, visitation will be held at Peace Lutheran Church, W240N6145 Maple Avenue, Sussex, from 9-11 am. A service will immediately follow, officiated by the Rev. Peter Bender. Interment will be held on a future date at the Town of Summit Cemetery in northern Wisconsin. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Homecare Assistance (especially Anne-Marie, Latonja, Adelle, Shanda, and Pam).
