I was thinking today of Leah/Lee when I was posting a small news item on Gillett Area Historical Society’s Facebook page --- which included a mention of the merry-go-round in Zippel Park in Gillett. I added a mention of Leah Farnsworth as having brought two of the Zippel Park horses to visit their original home and to be at our Ice Cream Social in 2011 – but wanted to make sure I had the spelling of her name correct.
To my surprise I came across an obituary. And then the lovely memorial page in the Spring issue of The Carousel Magazine.
What a joy it was to have Leah and her family here with the two “critters” – plus a gondola also!! So many folks had their memories jogged! And of course would have loved to hop on --- but we convinced it wouldn’t be wise.
So many times I thought what a chore it must have been to transport them to Gillett – and how nice you all were to do that!! Memories we will never forget!!! I corresponded with Lee a few times later, but lost touch. So sad to have read of her death, but what a nice obituary/memorial from her family.
